Anthony Banda or Angel Zerpa? The MLB Stat Breakdown

The most competitive category in this matchup is WHIP, where Anthony Banda posts 1.42 against Angel Zerpa's 1.37 — a gap of just 3.6%. Angel Zerpa can point to this as evidence that the overall comparison is closer than the final 2-2 tally suggests. In any debate, WHIP is the statistical ammunition for the Angel Zerpa side.

Relief pitching is evaluated differently than starting pitching — ERA and saves matter most for closers, while WHIP and strikeout rate define setup men. Career totals reflect longevity in a high-stress role.

With categories split evenly, this comparison ultimately comes down to which statistics matter most to you. Anthony Banda claims the tiebreaker through Wins advantage — a 41.7% edge — but reasonable people can, and do, argue both sides of this MLB debate.
