Akiem Hicks or Myles Garrett? The NFL Stat Breakdown
**Statistical Domination** This isn't even close. Myles Garrett obliterates Akiem Hicks in the most important defensive metric—sacks. Garrett's 125.5 sacks in just 134 games versus Hicks' measly 41.5 in 149 games tells the entire story. That's a staggering 0.94 sacks per game for Garrett compared to Hicks' anemic 0.28 rate. Garrett also edges out Hicks in pass deflections (18 vs 14) and nearly matches his tackle production despite playing 15 fewer games.
**Signature Strengths** Hicks built his reputation as a versatile run-stopper who could eat up blockers and create chaos in the trenches—a blue-collar worker who maximized limited athletic ability. Garrett is a once-in-a-generation pass rusher with elite bend, speed, and power who consistently terrorizes opposing quarterbacks. While Hicks provided steady interior pressure, Garrett is a game-wrecker who changes offensive game plans.
**Final Verdict** Garrett's pass-rushing dominance makes this comparison laughable. He's produced triple the sack production while being more well-rounded across all defensive categories. Myles Garrett isn't just better—he's in a completely different stratosphere as a player.
